Fortec Motorsports made a strong start to the 2025 GB4 Championship season, securing points-scoring results for all three drivers during the opening weekend at Donington Park, while also demonstrating promising pace across the board.

This season, the team fields a blend of experience and new talent, with returning driver Jack Taylor joined by rookies Thomas Ingram-Hill and Luca Magnussen. All three are piloting the newly introduced Tatuus MSV GB4-025, now equipped with a naturally aspirated engine.

Following two productive days of testing, qualifying took place on Saturday morning under clear skies, though gusty conditions challenged the field. In a tightly contested 15-minute session, Jack posted the second fastest time, while Thomas and Luca qualified 11th and 19th respectively – the latter just a second adrift of pole position. “It was a good result, and I think we should be up there for the race,” said a confident Jack afterwards.

In the opening race, Jack made a strong getaway, retaining second through the first corner. However, contact from another car caused a puncture, forcing him to pit and rejoin at the back. He eventually crossed the line in 24th. Meanwhile, Thomas ran inside the top ten and Luca made up ground to finish 16th, both drivers engaged in close battles throughout. “I made a bit of a mess of qualifying,” admitted Thomas post-race. “We shouldn’t have been starting that far back, but I’ve learnt a lot already – there were mistakes, but also positives.”

Sunday brought similar conditions, with Jack once again starting from the front row. He slipped to fourth on lap one but launched a spirited challenge for third, making several attempts to pass before ultimately finishing sixth. Thomas found himself in a tightly packed midfield battle, as Luca continued to make progress, climbing to 15th at the flag.

Thomas, pushing hard to break into the top ten, was unfortunately forced to retire with suspension damage following contact while overtaking. Jack, meanwhile, kept his cool to bring the car home in the points once again.

The weekend concluded with race three, which featured a reversed grid based on the top twelve qualifying positions. Thomas started on the front row in second, with Jack in 11th and Luca in 18th. Thomas initially held third, but a small mistake at the Esses forced him to take to the escape road, costing several places. He finished ninth, just ahead of Jack in tenth after a determined drive through the pack.

Luca also impressed with a strong race, climbing to 14th. However, his efforts were cut short just before the finish when contact at the final corner sent him into the barriers, ending his race prematurely. “It’s my first year in cars, so it’s a big step,” said Luca. “My dad and brother both raced here in the UK, so it made sense to follow in their footsteps. They’ve been a big help during testing.”

While the team encountered some challenges over the weekend, there were plenty of positives to take away. With valuable experience gained and clear potential shown, Fortec Motorsports now looks ahead to the next round at Silverstone in just under three weeks, determined to build on a solid foundation.
