Fortec Motorsport is pleased to unveil Indian rising star Ruhaan Alva as the next member of it’s 2023 GB4 Championship line-up.
The 16-year-old from Bangalore graduates to single seaters full-time with the support of JK Racing after an impressive karting career, including the Indian Junior X30 title and front-running appearances at both the IAME International Final and Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in the Junior category.
More recently, Alva represented India at the second edition of the FIA Motorsport Games in Marseille, France, racing under his nation’s flag in the Formula 4 category.
The teenager has already received attention from the highest levels of the sport, having been selected last year for Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA) trials for the Asia-Pacific zone.
Now, Alva heads to UK shores, and will contest the seven-event, 21-race GB4 calendar alongside Fortec’s other previously announced driver, Colin Queen. An additional entry to make it a three-car team will be unveiled in due course.
“I’m really excited to be racing in the GB4 Championship this year,” says Alva.
“And even more so, because it’s with such a fantastic team as Fortec Motorsport. I know I will be able to learn and develop a lot here as a driver, and the standard of competition is incredibly high, which was another big draw for me.
“The UK has so many famous circuits, and they’re really difficult to master. The aim is to use this as a springboard and to be as successful in single seaters as we have been throughout karting.”
Team Principal Ollie Dutton is excited at the prospect of working with Alva, as the Daventry-based team look to go back-to-back on GB4 title successes in 2023.
“We’re really looking forward to working with Ruhaan,” says Dutton. “His is a name that has been cropping up on a few people’s radars recently, and we definitely think he has a lot of potential.
“GB4 is a really tough championship, as we found out last year, but with the right development and some experience, he can be a force to be reckoned with, and his addition to the team puts us in even stronger shape heading to Oulton Park this weekend.”
Designed as a lower-cost, accessible route into single seaters on the UK’s unrivalled platform for development, GB4 features the one-make Tatuus TF-014, powered by a 1.4-litre, turbocharged Autotechnica engine on Pirelli tyres.
An enviable prize package also features, amongst others, £50,000 to the champion to put towards a drive in either GB3 or ROKiT British F4 for the following season. All rounds of the GB4 Championship are broadcast live on MSV TV’s YouTube channel.
