Fortec Motorsport celebrated another hat-trick of podium finishes in the GB3 Championship at Silverstone last weekend (14-15 August).
The Daventry team made the short trip to the 3.6-mile Northamptonshire circuit keen to build on its recent momentum in the UK’s premier motorsport series, including a victory and podium brace for Ollie Bearman and Roberto Faria respectively at Snetterton last time out.
Following two productive pre-event test days, the trio stepped up once again in qualifying, with Bearman taking pole position for the second consecutive meeting.
Although a wheel nut problem forced the runaway Italian F4 points leader to retire prematurely in the opener, a storming drive through the field from ninth to second from Faria ensured the team would still pick up some silverware.
The Brazilian, who boasts an enviable record around the British Grand Prix venue, was on the rostrum once again in Sunday morning’s second contest, finishing third behind Bearman, who bounced back in style to record a second-placed finish.
Bearman would gain ten spots in the reverse grid race to finish fourth, some consolation after Faria was taken out by another competitor whilst running up front in the battle for the lead.
Silverstone represented another positive step forward for Mikkel Grundtvig, the Danish rising star taking a hat-trick of points finishes to continue his steady climb up the championship standings.
Oulton Park, Cheshire hosts the next event on the calendar across the weekend of 11-12 September.

“As a team, it’s been another really solid weekend in the GB3 Championship for our team. We have to be happy with three podium finishes, even if there was the potential for more, and it’s kept us right at the sharp end in both championships.
“We’ve got a few weeks off now to reset, work on a few things and come back out at Oulton Park aiming for more silverware.”
Roberto Faria (#7) said:
“I’m really happy with another two podium finishes, Silverstone has always been a good circuit for me so to keep that run going is very satisfying.
“Obviously, what happened in race three was a shame, but we have to put these things into some context, it was a good weekend overall and we can be happy with the performance. On to the next one.”
Mikkel Grundtvig (#43) said:
“To score points in all three races is another good step forward for me, and it means we continue to climb higher in the championship.
“I had some good battles out on-track and the race pace was good, and as always, we now have a few more things we can work on before Oulton. Thanks to the team for their support.”
Ollie Bearman (#87) said:
“Although the problem in the first race was frustrating, the way we bounced back from it is satisfying, so overall there are plenty of positives for me to take from Silverstone.
“We’ve added another podium finish to the tally, and our pace to move through the field in the reverse grid race was fantastic, climbing up ten positions to finish fourth.
“Thanks to the team for their hard work over the weekend.”
