- Daventry team lead Drivers’ Championship heading to Kent circuit
- Nikolas Taylor looking to repeat spectacular Silverstone showing
- Jessica Edgar hopeful of converting recent form into podiums
After a spectacular showing last time out at Silverstone, Fortec Motorsport set their sights on extending their championship lead in the 2022 GB4 Championship partnered by BRDC at Brands Hatch GP circuit on 10/11 September.
After a lengthy summer break, the Daventry squad heads to the famous 2.3-mile circuit coming off the back of a superlative hat-trick of victories at Silverstone that puts them at the head of the Drivers’ Championship with two rounds and six races remaining of the inaugural GB4 Championship.
The latest three victories came courtesy of Nikolas Taylor, the Anglo-Malaysian extending his season’s win tally to eight overall to open up a 21-point advantage in the standings heading to Brands Hatch.
With very limited testing available to teams and drivers in pre-season, the event is set to be another tight contest, with Fortec Motorsport entering two cars for Taylor and fellow rookie Jessica Edgar and earning initial bragging rights by topping the recent test day at the Kent circuit.
Cumbrian karting start Edgar started the season strongly and claimed a podium finish at Oulton Park, a tally that she came tantalisingly close to doubling in the second visit to Silverstone most recently as she fought over third place until the chequered flag of race one.
Fortec Motorsport enter the penultimate meeting of the season sitting second in the Teams’ Championship meanwhile, with eyes set on the ultimate prize as they bid to trim the 46-point deficit to the top spot this weekend.
The latest meeting will again feature three races, starting with two days of testing leading up to the all-important qualifying session on Saturday morning at 10:40. Race one gets underway at 14:45 later that afternoon, with Sunday’s final two sprints kicking off at 12:10 and 17:30 respectively – including a reverse grid contest to finish the weekend.
All three races will once again be streamed online and free to watch on MSV TV’s YouTube page with live timing alongside it, and you can keep up to date via Fortec Motorsport’s social media channels.
Oliver Dutton, Team Manager said:
“We’re riding high from an absolutely fantastic weekend at Silverstone most recently, so it’s all about taking that form and translating it again into victories. Testing was important for the team as it has given us that extra bit of knowledge we need, and the pace shown there means we’re confident Nikolas and Jessica will be able to get the results for us.”
#17 Jessica Edgar
“Brands Hatch is next for us and I’m hoping for some more results like we were getting at Silverstone, and especially the first race of the weekend. Some more top-five results I would be very pleased with.”
#66 Nikolas Taylor
“We were rapid all weekend at Silverstone. Brands GP will be interesting to say the least as not a lot of testing has been done by teams and drivers around there. There are lots of high speed corners so I think we are going to be strong there too as a team.”
