- Daventry team head to home of British Motorsport for third meeting
- Nikolas Taylor aiming for second win of GB4 season
- Elias Adestam and Jessica Edgar chasing further podiums
The home of British motorsport is the next destination for Fortec Motorsport as its trio of cars next head to Silverstone looking for more glory in the third meeting of the 2022 GB4 Championship partnered by BRDC season on 7/8 May.
With two visits and six rounds already ticked off in the new championship, the Daventry team sit third in the Teams’ Championship but with eyes firmly focused on climbing the table at the full GP layout of the famous 3.66-mile circuit in Northampton.
Anglo-Malaysian teenager Nikolas Taylor leads the team’s charge having collected a sensational win at Snetterton from pole position, coupled with a further visit to the podium at Oulton Park. Strong pace throughout the initial races have not always been rewarded however after a stall in race one last time out left him in a spirited recovery mode, so the former FIA F4 development driver will be keen to return to winning ways in his title fight with Alex Walker.
Swedish youngster Elias Adestam continues to adapt to GB4 machinery also and has been a consistent podium threat throughout the early rounds. The 16-year-old has not finished lower than seventh this season and has one podium to his name, a tally he will be looking to extend at Silverstone after showing impressive pace so far.
Oulton Park was also a moment to savour for the third Fortec Motorsport driver, Jessica Edgar. The young Cumbrian karter grabbed her first podium in the final race of the weekend in Cheshire last time out, and will take that confidence with her into the third event of the season at the full layout of the illustrious high-speed F1 circuit.
Three races are again in store when the GB4 Championship heads to Silverstone, starting with two days of testing leading up to the all-important qualifying session on Saturday morning at 11:40. Race one gets underway at 17:00 later that afternoon, with Sunday’s final two sprints kicking off at 11:15 and 17:30 respectively.
All three races will once again be streamed online and free to watch on MSV TV’s YouTube page with live timing for TSL Timing alongside it, and you can keep up to date via Fortec Motorsport’s social media pages.
Oliver Dutton, Team Manager said:
“Heading to Silverstone; it is a good track for us and we’ve spent a lot of time here gaining mileage in testing, working hard with our drivers and learning more with them to extract as much out of them as possible in preparation for the season, so we’re heading to this meeting with optimism. Nikolas and Elias are keen to add victories, and Jessica showed us just what she can do at Oulton, so all the signs point towards this being a very positive weekend.”

“Qualifying was the weak part of Oulton Park for me – otherwise I think we could have had a victory and the potential was there again. Silverstone next, and we’ve been very very fast so far with some good reference points to use, so we’ll keep pushing forward to get that first win and keep adding results for the team which will come together.”

“It was great to get that first podium at Oulton Park, so hopefully that will give me the confidence heading to Silverstone. It’s a great track and I’ll be looking to keep improving, and hopefully I can get more podiums at the end of it.”

“The pace is there for us for sure. Silverstone is possibly one of my best tracks to go to this year I think, because I’ve been watching it on Formula 1 races for years. It’s a fast track, so we’ll just have to get there and see how it goes. I know that the team will bring me a great car so I’m confident we will be up there. I trust Fortec to do well.”
