- Fortec Motorsport return to circuit they claimed double win at earlier in year
- Nikolas Taylor aiming to snatch back the championship lead
- Jessica Edgar aiming for strong results in Northamptonshire
Fortec Motorsport set their sights on taking back their championship lead in the 2022 GB4 Championship partnered by BRDC this weekend (30/31 July) in the series’ second visit of the season to the Silverstone GP circuit.
The Daventry squad return to the 3.6-mile Formula 1 circuit for the second time this season hoping for similar success to what they achieved that weekend in May. A front row and race two pole was backed up by two victories in Northampton, with five wins now to the team’s name heading back to the home of British motorsport.
With three meetings and nine more races offering crucial points remaining to fight for, Nikolas Taylor keeps Fortec Motorsport firmly in title contention after collecting five wins so far in 2022, including one in the most recent meeting at Snetterton. The Anglo-Malaysian charged to a brace of fantastic victories in the previous visit to Silverstone, and will have his sights on repeating those triumphs to take a bite out of the slender nine-point deficit in the Drivers’ Championship.
After a trying weekend in Norfolk recently, Fortec Motorsport have their eyes on also trimming the 47-point gap in the Teams’ standings, heading to Silverstone with a two-car assault for the sixth meeting.
Luck was not on the side of Fortec’s second charger, Jessica Edgar, at Snetterton. Having not had the chance to start from pole position in Norfolk, the Cumbrian karter will return to a circuit she has GB4 experience in, which she hopes will allow her to get her elbows out in a bid to add to her fantastic Oulton Park podium.
The latest weekend will again feature three races, starting with two days of testing leading up to the all-important qualifying session on Saturday morning at 11:25. Race one gets underway at 17:30 later that afternoon, with Sunday’s final two sprints kicking off at 11:40 and 16:05 respectively – including a reverse grid contest to finish the weekend.
All three races will once again be streamed online and free to watch on MSV TV’s YouTube page with live timing alongside it, and you can keep up to date via Fortec Motorsport’s social media channels.
Oliver Dutton, Team Manager said:
“We’ve got our sights firmly set on getting those championship leads back this weekend and we know from last time here that we have the pace to challenge at Silverstone. Snetterton was a tough weekend for us but we’re looking forward now and have confidence in ourselves that we can repeat what we did in May, where we came home with two wins.”

“It’ll be good to return to Silverstone as it’s a track we‘ve already raced at this season. We’ll get our heads down and look to start well and score as many points for the team as possible.”
#66 Nikolas Taylor
“I love Silverstone, so I’m really looking forward to getting back there this weekend. We had a great run last time so I’ll be hoping to repeat that and add some more wins to keep pushing for the title.”
