Fortec Motorsport heads to Donington Park, Leicestershire this weekend (9-10 October) looking to put together a late-season charge in the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost standings.
A bruising trip to Silverstone last time out for Sweden’s Joel Granfors has left the Daventry team with ground to make up in the race for the Drivers title.
However, the 15-year-old’s solid points-scoring form has kept Fortec’s lead in the Teams Cup intact, the gap back to second-placed JHR now 29 points with six races left to run across the events at Donington Park and Brands GP later in October.
The 1.95-mile East Midlands venue has been a solid hunting ground for the team in the past, including victories for the likes of Dan Ticktum, Alex Quinn and Johnathan Hoggard, plus numerous other podium finishes.
The team also announced their continued commitment to Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series from 2022 onwards last week, with the category set to introduce the second-generation, Halo-shod car and continue to provide a competitive, race-proven package for the next generation of rising stars.
Two pre-event test sessions kick off the action on Thursday (11:30 & 16:05), ahead of qualifying at 11:40 on Saturday.
That afternoon also hosts the first of three races at 16:35, with further, ITV4-televised contests the following day at 11:05 and 16:30.

“We’ve seen recently how quickly the pendulum can swing in this championship, so we haven’t let our heads drop despite a difficult trip to Silverstone last time out.
“There are few better circuits for us as a team to try and bounce back than at Donington Park; it’s been a very healthy hunting ground for us in the past, and I know the team will provide Joel with a car he can attack the weekend in.”
Joel Granfors (#5) said:
“We’ve had some bad luck recently, so this weekend we need to make sure we maximise each race and hope that some of our rivals in the championship hit trouble to keep us in the mix going to Brands Hatch.
“I’m feeling confident with the car, the team and I have done plenty of preparation and it’s a good circuit for Fortec in the past. If everything comes together, it should be a good weekend.”
