Fortec Motorsport head to Croft Circuit, Yorkshire this weekend (18-19 September) aiming to continue their rise through the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost standings.
The Daventry-based team currently hold an enviable 73-point advantage in the Teams Cup, due in no small part to a recent hat-trick of victories at Thruxton courtesy of rising stars Joel Granfors and Ollie Gray.
The duo were on top form at the high-speed Hampshire venue to net their maiden victories in single seaters, injecting new life into their respective bids for the Drivers’ crown.
With twelve races left to run in Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series this term, and hundreds of points still on the table, the pair sit fourth (Granfors) and sixth (Gray) outright, the margin to the championship summit 22 and 38 markers respectively.
Characterised by its mixture of high-speed and technical corners, the 2.12-mile Croft Circuit has been a solid hunting ground for the team in seasons past, not least a podium finish for Luke Browning last year en route to the crown.
Two practice sessions kick off the on-track action on Friday (09:55 & 14:03 BST) before qualifying on Saturday morning at 10:25. The opening two races follow later that afternoon at 14:15 and 17:50, with one further, ITV4-televised race on Sunday at 13:50.

“After taking a clean sweep of victories last time out at Thruxton, our British F4 team heads north to Croft this weekend looking to capitalise on those results and keep the momentum going.
“For both Joel and Ollie, it was their first wins, so that should give them a big confidence boost, which can make a lot of difference in a field as competitive as this.
“We’ve still got four race meetings to run and an awful lot of points still on the table, so for us, the championship battle really begins again this time out. We’ll give it our best shot!”
Joel Granfors (#5) said:
“After a really positive event at Thruxton, I’m very excited to be back in the car and racing at Croft this weekend.
“We’d been building up towards those results for some time now, so it was really satisfying to see it all pay off. But the fight doesn’t stop there; we’re back in the championship battle now, so we need to keep pushing.
“If we can qualify well, we know we have the car and the pace to be at the front, so that’s the key objective.”
Ollie Gray (#63) said:
“I’m really looking forward to being back in the car at Croft this weekend and building on the results we scored last time out at Thruxton.
“The pace and race craft has been there all season, we just had to wait for a lucky break. Hopefully that means I’ll have a clear run until the end of the year now and we can really start to capitalise on this momentum.
“There’s a long way to go yet, and with the championship as close as it is, inevitably people will drop points from time-to-time. We just need to make sure we keep ourselves in the right ballpark and take advantage of that.”
