Fortec Motorsport is pleased to confirm it has placed an order for cars and intends to compete in the new-look F4 British Championship from the 2022 season onwards.
The Daventry-based team will take receipt of the second-generation Tatuus T-421 chassis, powered by an Abarth engine and featuring notable safety upgrades such as the inclusion of the FIA Halo safety device, before commencing a thorough winter testing programme with the new machinery.
The news marks an extension to the team’s continuous involvement in Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series since its inception back in 2015, with the team having scored some 34 race victories, 68 podium finishes and the 2020 Drivers’ title in the category to-date.
Several of the category’s household graduates have come through Fortec’s renowned driver development programme, including Johnathan Hoggard, Dan Ticktum, Luke Browning, Nicolai Kjaergaard, Roberto Faria and Hampus Ericsson, to name a few.
With the news the series will continue to feature as a high-profile fixture on the British Touring Car Championship support bill, the next generation of rising stars will also continue to benefit from capacity trackside crowds, live and free-to-air ITV coverage and plenty of track time, with 30 races held over 10 events around the UK.
“We’re pleased to confirm our commitment to the F4 British Championship going forward in its new guise from 2022,” commented Team Principal, Richard Dutton.
“As with any new car-engine combination, it’s important to do plenty of due diligence before committing, but having considered the options on the market, we’ve decided to continue our involvement with the series, which dates back several years now and has brought us plenty of success in the past.
“To be among the first to receive the new car will also give our in-house engineering team plenty of time to get on top of everything and ensures we can start testing drivers for next season in the near future.
