• Daventry team topping Teams’ Championship heading to Donington
  • Nikolas Taylor looking for more victories after Silverstone double
  • Jessica Edgar chasing podiums on trip to Leicester circuit

After a double win at Silverstone, Fortec Motorsport hope to extend their newfound lead in the 2022 GB4 Championship partnered by BRDC this weekend (28/29 May) when the series heads to Donington Park.

The Leicester circuit sets the scene for the fourth meeting of the year, with the Daventry team having collected four wins from the nine races contested so far in the early stages of the championship’s maiden season.

Three of those have come courtesy of Anglo-Malaysian teenager Nikolas Taylor, who added a fantastic brace in the most recent round at Silverstone after some impressive overtaking around the GP circuit. A strong weekend moved him up into second in the championship and just 12 points behind series leader, Alex Walker, while Fortec Motorsport jumped to the top of the Teams’ Championship table heading to Donington Park.

Jessica Edgar was out of luck at the start of the final race when in a great position to repeat her excellent podium from Oulton Park back at Easter. The Cumbrian karter continues to gain confidence as the season progresses however, and will target more strong points finishes at the 1.9-mile GP layout of the Donington Park circuit.

Swedish youngster Elias Adestam was unlucky not to add another podium to his season tally at Silverstone, but the 16-year-old will unfortunately be absent for the trip to Donington due to financial reasons – hopeful of returning to the series with the team for Snetterton.

The latest weekend will again feature three races, starting with two days of testing leading up to the all-important qualifying session on Saturday morning at 10:45. Race one gets underway at 14:35 later that afternoon, with Sunday’s final two sprints kicking off at 11:30 and 18:00 respectively – including a reverse grid contest to finish the weekend.

All three races will once again be streamed online and free to watch on MSV TV’s YouTube page with live timing alongside it, and you can keep up to date via Fortec Motorsport’s social media channels.

Oliver Dutton, Team Manager said:

“Silverstone went very well for us as a team, so we expect to be fighting for more victories at Donington this weekend based on the speed that our drivers have already shown. Nikolas is in great form at the moment and really gave everyone a taste of what he can do last time out, so he will be hungry for more wins to fight for the lead of the championship. With a bit more luck on her side, Jessica knows she is capable too, so we’ll look forward to another competitive weekend. It is a big shame not to have Elias with us on this occasion, but I’m hopeful that we will see him back for the following event.”

#17 Jessica Edgar

“So far we’ve had plenty of ups and downs this season, but that is always to be expected. I think Donington will go well for us and for me I feel I don’t have much to lose other than to go for it and keep finding more pace. I hope to be in the fight this weekend and get some good results.”

#66 Nikolas Taylor

“The team gave me an amazing car all weekend at Silverstone, and it felt good to come away with two more wins after we were a bit unlucky before that at Oulton Park. I’d hope for more of the same this weekend and we’ll be aiming for more wins for sure, to try and take back the championship lead.”
