• Daventry team target final flourish in UK’s premier single seater series.
  • Donington Park’s GP circuit sets the scene for decisive triple header.
  • Faria and Grundtvig joined by debutante Eduardo Coseteng as team close in on top-three finish.

Fortec Motorsport heads to Donington Park, Leicestershire this weekend (16-17 October) aiming for a final flourish as the curtain comes down on the 2021 GB3 Championship season.

The Daventry-based team have enjoyed another vintage season in the UK’s premier tier of single-seater competition, including three race victories, a further 14 podium finishes and consistent, front-running form across all four of its entrants to-date.

Roberto Faria arrives at the 2.4-mile GP circuit aiming for a top-three position in the Drivers’ standings, the Brazilian rising star currently 23 points shy but on the crest of a wave after another podium finish last time out at Oulton Park.

Ditto Mikkel Grundtvig, the Danish ace also looking for a repeat of the silverware secured in Cheshire a few weeks ago, with the duo also joined for his competitive debut in the series by British F4 front-runner Eduardo Coseteng.

The efforts of all three could prove crucial as the team zones in on a top-three position in the inaugural Teams Championship.

Following two days of pre-event testing, the competitive action begins with qualifying at 10:50 on Saturday morning, with the first of three races to follow that afternoon at 15:10.

Sunday features two further live-streamed races across GB3’s YouTube channel and social media platforms, with lights out scheduled for 10:10 and 16:00 respectively.

Oliver Dutton, Team Manager said:

“It’s been a strong season for us in the GB3 Championship, so the aim is to end it on a positive note at Donington Park this weekend.

“Roberto and Mikkel still have opportunities to move up the Drivers’ standings, and we’re closing in rapidly on a top-three spot in the Teams’ Championship, which is a real testament to the hard work everybody has put in all season long.

“It’s also great to welcome Eduardo to the team, and I’m sure his first experience of both our team and the series will be a positive one.”

Roberto Faria (#7) said:

“I’m feeling very motivated ahead of this weekend. We still have an opportunity to finish in the top three, so that’s my goal, and we know we have the pace to achieve it.

“Donington Park is a very enjoyable circuit to drive, it’s had its highs and lows for me in the past, but it’s a strong circuit for the team and I know I will have the car underneath me to attack all three races.

“In that situation, I have the confidence in myself to deliver the results, and hopefully we can end the season on a positive note.”

Eduardo Coseteng (#16) said:

“I’m looking forward to the weekend; it’s great to be in the GB3 Championship and with a team as established as Fortec.

“There are no expectations from my side; the important thing here is we go out, enjoy it, and learn as much as possible to help for the future.

“I’m looking forward to working with everybody in the team, as well as Roberto and Mikkel, to try and help the team end the season strongly.”

Mikkel Grundtvig (#43) said:

“This season has probably been the most significant of my career so far for my development as a driver, so I’m very motivated to end it with a good set of results at Donington Park.

“I’m feeling very confident in myself and the car, especially after a good result at Oulton Park last time out. I’ve prepared well alongside the team, so if everything comes together, it should be a good weekend.”
