Fortec Motorsport continues its 2023 GB4 Championship campaign at Donington Park this weekend [27-28 May], with a bumper four-race schedule in support of the British GT Championship.

The Daventry-based team have enjoyed a silverware-laden start to the 2023 season, including podium finishes last time out at a rain-soaked Silverstone for Colin Queen and Ruhaan Alva, with Aditya Kulkarni also impressing with an equal career-best result.

As a result of the weather last time out, the opening race was cancelled, and will therefore be ‘re-run’ around Donington Park’s 2.49-mile GP circuit this weekend, using the original grid line-up for that contest.

It offers an extra opportunity for the team’s trio of rising stars to take a breakthrough victory, and the first for the team this season in defence of the inaugural GB4 crown.

Characterised by its fast, flowing nature, the East Midlands venue presents drivers with plenty of opportunities to pass, notably into the first corner at Redgate, and again at the Melbourne Hairpin towards the end of the lap.

It’s a venue that always offers spectators a thrilling spectacle, but first, the team will have two days of pre-event testing to get acclimatised, before the all-important qualifying session at 10:55 on Saturday morning.

The re-arranged Silverstone round takes place later that afternoon at 14:15, with ‘Race 1’ of the weekend at 17:45.

Sunday features another double-header of action at 10:35 and 15:55 (all times BST), with live coverage available throughout the weekend via the MSV TV YouTube channel.

Aditya Kulkarni (#11) said:

“It’s going to be a tough one with only one prior day of testing ahead of the race weekend, but I’m really looking forward to racing in GB4 at Donington this weekend.

“It’s always great to learn a new track, and I’m looking forward to continuing my development together with the team and building towards the front.

“It’s a good circuit for racing, so hopefully it makes for an exciting spectacle!”

Ruhaan Alva (#27) said:

“I’m really looking forward to this weekend, every time I get in the car we’re getting closer and closer to front of the field.

“Hopefully from this round onwards, we can be consistently on the podium, if everything goes to plan and we perform as we expect to.

“I know the team at Fortec Motorsport will give me a car that can be at the front, so now it’s my job to put it there.”

Colin Queen (#62) said:

“As always, I’m really looking forward to getting back in the car and racing this weekend. Donington Park is a great circuit to race it, with every sector having its own unique challenges.

“The schedule will be a little bit less laid back than usual, as we also have the extra race to make up for Silverstone on Saturday, bringing it to a total of four races.

“It’s sure to be an exciting weekend, I can’t wait to get going!”

Oliver Dutton, Team Principal said:

“The race meetings are arriving thick and fast at the moment, and we can’t wait for a bumper four-race event at Donington this weekend with the GB4 team.

“Full credit to the GB4 Championship for calling that race off, and for re-staging it here in much better conditions. It would have been a complete non-contest for our drivers in the conditions at Silverstone, whereas here it still serves the purpose of developing them as competitors.

“That, plus it’s an extra opportunity for us to get that elusive first win of the season! We’ve knocked on the door a few times now, so it’s only a matter of time, in my opinion, before we get that breakthrough.

“It’s always great racing around Donington, so the whole team is feeling ready and looking forward to what the weekend will bring.”
