- Daventry squad hopeful of grabbing the GB3 title in final three races
- Joel Granfors lying second in points in close contest
- Mikkel Grundtvig eyeing another Donington victory for team
Fortec Motorsport remain well and truly in title contention ahead of a thrilling GB3 Championship decider at Donington Park this weekend (15/16 October).
With just three races remaining to decide the fate of the championship, Sweden’s Joel Granfors has excelled on his graduation from British F4 with the Daventry team, claiming two wins and 11 podium finishes to his name.
It leaves the Fortec Motorsport rookie second in the points with just a 16.5-point deficit to make up on championship leader Luke Browning, setting up a tense deciding round.
While Granfors has sights on the overall crown, help will come from team-mate Mikkel Grundtvig who is always a danger when it comes to the visit to Donington Park.
The Danish driver has two wins to his name this year and has clinched two victories previously at this very circuit in Leicester, both from the front in style.
The weekend will again feature three races, starting with two days of testing leading up to the all-important qualifying session on Saturday morning at 10:50. Race one gets underway at 15:00 later that afternoon, with Sunday’s final two sprints kicking off at 10:00 and 15:20 respectively – including a reverse grid contest to finish the weekend.
All three races will once again be streamed online and free to watch on MSV TV’s YouTube page with live timing alongside it, and you can keep up to date via Fortec Motorsport’s social media channels.
Oliver Dutton, Team Manager said:
“We enter it without pressure of leading the championship, so we can only go into it with a positive mindset to go and get the job done. If we do that, then there is no reason why we can’t win races, and then it can swing either way. We’re not giving up, and we’re coming out fighting.”
#43 Mikkel Grundtvig:
“Brands Hatch was a tough weekend but now I’m ready and focused for Donington. It has been a good track for me in recent times so I hope this form continues and we finish strongly.”
#50 Joel Granfors:
“It’s a big weekend for us and we can only go and do our best. I’m looking forward to Donington. We were quick there last time around with a pole position and good speed so everything is going to go down to the last race.”
