Fortec Motorsport head to the fourth meeting of the 2022 GB3 Championship season looking to build on their series lead as the team travels to Snetterton circuit this weekend (25/26 June).
The Daventry-based team’s season next heads to the 2.9-mile Snetterton 300 circuit in Norfolk, with Fortec Motorsport’s Swedish youngster Joel Granfors heading the championship standings by a single point thanks to his fourth podium finish of the year at Donington Park most recently.
The British F4 race winner continues to impress in his rookie season in GB3, having claimed two pole positions in succession at both Silverstone and Donington, backing that up with a maiden win in the opening race at the former of the two visits from the sharp end of the field.
While Granfors aims for more silverware this weekend to extend his championship lead, his fellow Fortec Motorsport team-mates will be in hot pursuit as they fight for podiums themselves. Denmark’s Mikkel Grundtvig added his second podium finish at Donington and Fortec’s sixth of the season last time out, backing up his impressive Oulton Park victory in the season opener. Zak Taylor was not far off his maiden visit to the top three after an intense third and final race at Donington, as he gains experience with the front-running squad in his rookie campaign.
Fortec Motorsport head to a circuit that they were victorious at as recently as last year with a win for former driver Ollie Bearman, also claiming a brace of wins back in the 2018 visit to Snetterton thanks to Johnathan Hoggard.
The visit to Snetterton again features three sprint races, with qualifying kicking off the weekend on Saturday at 10:40 to decide the grid before race one later that afternoon at 13:20. Sunday’s two races take place at 10:00 and 13:25 respectively, the latter of those featuring a reversed grid from qualifying.

Joel is in a great run of form so it will be key for him to keep up that momentum at Snetterton where we were very strong last season as a team. “Our pace towards the end of the weekend last time out wasn’t too bad, so we’re looking forward for Snetterton and hoping for some good results. We’re still learning week-in and week-out, and the team is doing a good job. We’ll get testing under our belts in the run-up and see where we go from there.”

“As I said at Silverstone, I will work hard to qualify higher on Saturdays and get to where we want to be. I’m still learning and gaining experience through testing with a new car, so I will try even harder, and hopefully this time we can be in a better position for races one and two to fight for good points.”

“We have been testing at Snetterton but not quite as much, however when I have tested we have been quick. It’s now just about keeping our momentum and keeping up the pace. We’ve got good pace everywhere we go in GB3 this season it seems so far, so I don’t think there’s anything to suggest that we won’t be fast at Snetterton either.”
