Fortec Motorsport heads to Snetterton, Norfolk this weekend (6-8 August) aiming to maintain its recent winning streak in the re-branded GB3 Championship.
The previous two events in the UK’s premier tier of single seater competition have yielded maiden victories for both Roberto Faria and Mikkel Grundtvig, including a notable 1-2-3 finish with newcomer Hunter Yeany last time out at Spa-Francorchamps.
Although the Daventry-based team will be without US rising star Yeany for this weekend’s triple header around the 2.99-mile Snetterton circuit, runaway Italian F4 leader Ollie Bearman returns to the outfit’s three-car assault.
Bearman was in superlative form at the Brands Hatch season opener – his debut in the category – and will be looking to build on that podium brace this time out.
A clean sweep of testing on Thursday – four fastest times from as many sessions – have fuelled the team’s optimism ahead of what promises to be another hard-fought weekend in the category.
Following two further practice sessions on Friday, qualifying marks the start of competitive action at 10:40 on Saturday, ahead of the opening race at 13:45.
Two further, live-streamed races are scheduled for Sunday, with lights out at 11:55 and 14:30 respectively.
Ollie Dutton, Team Manager said:
“It might have a different name, but it’s business as usual for our team in the GB3 Championship at Snetterton this weekend.
“We’re heading into it on a solid run of form – two wins in the last two events – and, of course, our aim is to extend that.
“It’s also great to welcome back Ollie, and we look forward to seeing how he can build on a very successful debut outing earlier this season.”
Roberto Faria (#7) said:
“I’m really looking forward to this weekend. I was able to get my first victory in British F3 last time out at Spa, so the aim is to build on that at Snetterton.
“As a team, we’re looking very competitive, so the objective now is to put everything together and achieve the best results we can.”
Mikkel Grundtvig (#43) said:
“Every weekend is a new opportunity for me, and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve at Snetterton.
“It will be a very competitive field, as always, but we’ve made some great steps forward in recent rounds, so I’m looking forward to some good racing.”
Ollie Bearman (#87) said:
“I’m really looking forward to getting back into the British F3 car this weekend at Snetterton.
“It’s been a while since Brands Hatch, but I’ve enjoyed a really strong season since then, and of course as a driver, you always want to keep that going, whatever championship it’s in.
“The team will do an excellent job preparing the car as always, now it’s down to me to add my side of the equation in, and see where we end up.”
