Fortec Motorsport is pleased to announce reigning US Formula 4 champion Hunter Yeany will make his debut in the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship with the team at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium this weekend (23-25 July).
The 16-year-old from Virginia, United States is currently a front-runner in the Formula Regional Americas Championship, including a pole position at Mid-Ohio and points in all but one of his twelve race starts thus far.
Yeany’s graduation to Formula 3 came off the back of a dominant run to the US Formula 4 title in 2020, claiming seven victories and a further six podium finishes, his eventual winning margin some 57 points.
Now, Yeany will make his European debut in single seaters at the high-speed, sweeping 4.3-mile Spa circuit, famed for hosting the annual Formula 1 ® Belgian Grand Prix.
He joins new team-mates Roberto Faria and Mikkel Grundtvig in the UK’s premier tier of single seater racing, with Daventry-based Fortec looking to maintain their recent run of form after scoring a first victory and a fifth podium of the campaign at Donington Park a fortnight ago.
Two practice sessions will kick off Yeany’s debut outing on Friday, ahead of an all-important qualifying session at 18:25 CET that evening.
Saturday features the opening two races at 14:20 and 18:40, with one further race on Sunday at 10:50.
