Fortec Motorsport will look to continue their recent run of form in the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship as the series heads to Donington Park, Leicestershire this weekend (9-11 July).
The Daventry-based team make the trip to the East Midlands buoyed by a superb run of podium finishes – four from the opening six rounds of the season – courtesy of Ollie Bearman and, most recently, a resurgent Roberto Faria.
The Brazilian’s title bid was given a welcome boost at Silverstone last time out, with a brace of third-placed finishes, the second after gaining seven spots in the reverse grid contest, plus an extra top-five moving him up to third in the standings.
That, plus another brace of points finishes for Danish rising star Mikkel Grundtvig as he continues to adapt to Formula 3 machinery, means the team heads into the weekend in optimistic mood, and looking to build on recent progress.
Fortec also occupy a top-three position in the new-for-2021 Teams Championship, still within touching distance of the competition ahead and 17 points clear of fourth-placed Arden.
Faria set the third-fastest time in pre-event testing on Thursday using old tyres, with another brace of sessions to follow on Friday before the competitive action begins.
Qualifying takes place at 11:00 BST on Saturday (10 July), ahead of the opening race of the weekend at 14:20.
Sunday features a live-streamed double header on British F3’s YouTube channel and social media platforms, with lights out at 10:15 and 15:40 respectively.

“We’re heading to Donington Park this weekend looking to keep up our form in British F3. Both Roberto and Mikkel have been working really hard in-between race meetings, and we’ve always run well here in the past, so all the key ingredients are there.
“We’ve still got everything to fight for in both championships, so it’s just a case of going out there, bringing back another good points haul and seeing where we end up.”
Roberto Faria (#7) said:
“I’m really looking forward to this weekend. Last time out at Silverstone was a really welcome boost, and the aim is to keep building on that at Donington Park.
“This is actually the circuit where I made my F3 debut last season, and we’ve always enjoyed a good run of results here. That, plus our pace in pre-event testing today, and we look to be in a good place.”
Mikkel Grundtvig (#43) said:
“This weekend is another opportunity for me to continue my development and keep getting to grips with the British F3 car.
“We’ve scored points at both events so far, now the next step for me is to be in a position to contend for our first silverware of the season, which I think is possible.
“I’m getting more and more familiar with the car with each session, so it’s only a matter of time before we’re in a position to really show what we can do.”
